Ahead of the Departmental Budget Vote Speech to be tabled by the Ministry on 17 May 2023, the Deputy Minister will visit Langa Township, Cape Town, in the Western Cape Province as part of the pre-budget vote activations.
This year’s budget vote coincides with the Centenary commemoration of Langa as the oldest township in the Western Cape which was built in phases starting from the establishment of the 1923 Urban Areas Act until it was formalized in 1927.
The Deputy Minister in collaboration with DCDT’s SOEs will handover gadgets and proceed to conduct a career exhibition. This is done with the objective of establishing a skills development ecosystem to ensure that the community is exposed to various ICT opportunities in line with the mandate of the department to create a vibrant ICT sector that ensures all South Africans have access to reliable, affordable, and secure ICT services.
