Deputy Minister Mr Lechesa Tsenoli to meet mayors and traditional leaders in both Mopani and Sekhukhune districts

The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Mr Lechesa Tsenoli will meet with Mayors and traditional leaders in both Mopani and Sekhukhune districts.

Members of the Limpopo Legislature who are in the Portfolio Committees that deals with issues that are related to land will also form part of the meeting.

The meeting will focus mainly on the department’s mandate of comprehensive rural development and giving support to those who have already received their land back. Stakeholders will be given an opportunity to raise issues pertaining to developments they want to see implemented in their areas, the Deputy Minister will then present such issues at Intergovernmental forums that the department serve in including the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Committee.

With this year marking the centenary of the 1913 Native Land Act which led to the dispossession of Black people from their land and resulted in them having no access to land and creating underdevelopment and poverty in rural areas, the Deputy Minister will also brief the stakeholders about the department’s preparations towards remembering the 1913 Land Act.
