Deputy Minister of Police, Ms Maggie Sotyu to visit the police officers injured at the N1 Limpopo explosion and to attend the funeral of the one of the late police officers killed in the explosion
Deputy Minister of Police, Ms Maggie Sotyu, will today, 7 March 2014 at 3 pm, visit the recuperating police officer, Constable TC Mongwe, who was one of the seven police officers who got injured and some killed in the Limpopo N1 explosion accident on 27 February 2014. Constable Mongwe, who is recuperating at the Polokwane Medi Clinic, has had his leg amputated due to severe leg injuries.
On Saturday, 8 March 2014, the Deputy Minister of Police will then attend one of the four funerals of the police officers killed in the explosion. The late Constable MJ Mohlokoane’s funeral service will start at his home, House No 568 Zone 3, Seshego, Limpopo.
During her address at the joint memorial service held on Thursday, 6 March 2014 in Polokwane for the deceased police officers, the Deputy Minister of Police, said:
“On that fateful day, the seven police officers were called upon to thwart a dangerous situation; and they did not give any excuse, but marched forward to the scene with commitment. It is then our hope that the media will pronounce not only how these police officers died or got injured in line of duty; but will hopefully also honour these police as exceptional heroes of our democracy.”
