On behalf of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, the Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Makhotso Maggie Sotyu, will be continuing with the National Department of Arts and Culture Ministerial Back to School Campaign Programme. The event will take place on Friday, 01 March 2019 at Galaletseng Science Secondary School, Mothibistad in kuruman, Northern Cape.
Launched on the 2nd of February 2018 in Brandfort, Free State Province, the campaign seeks to foster and promote Nation Building, Social Cohesion and moral regeneration, particularly in historically disadvantaged schools from all backgrounds.
The activities will also include donation of educational gifts to the school and learners, and the hoisting of the South African and African Union Flags.
The Programme is on quest to revive the nation building principles and legacy left by the first democratically elected President of South Africa, the late former President Nelson Mandela, and other liberation heroes and heroines, as 2019 is a year of celebrating the 25 years of freedom and democracy for all in South Africa.
In this instance, Programmes like Artists in Schools, Young Patriots, and the establishment of School Libraries, will be prioritised by this annual campaign.
