Deputy Minister Maggie Sotyu addresses 14th Annual National Oral History conference, 12 Oct

Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Makhotso Maggie Sotyu in cooperation with the Provincial Government of the Eastern Cape, will lead the Department of Arts and Culture at the Annual National Oral History Conference 2017, in Umthatha, Eastern Cape

The Department of Arts and Culture in partnership with Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture and Oral History Association of South Africa (OHASA) will host the 14th Annual National Oral History conference.

The National Oral History programme for South Africa is mandated by Cabinet for the Department of Arts and Culture to spearhead, a programme that seeks to yield data that will be added to the information already existing in the country’s archival holdings. That is information and knowledge crucial to the restoration and sustenance of human dignity of many millions of people which was ravaged by colonialism and apartheid. 

The Oral History Conference this year is held under the theme “Oliver Reginald Tambo in memorian: Reminiscing on a Centenary of struggle, true leadership and leadership values of a liberation stalwart”.

The Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Makhotso Maggie Sotyu, will lead and  address the conference as follows.
