Deputy Minister John Jeffery leads a march on maintenance, 19 Jun

The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mr. John Jeffery, MP, together with the KwaZulu-Natal Regional Office in Durban, will lead a March aimed at raising awareness on Child Maintenance. The march intends to address the increase in the number of maintenance defaulters in the province and to discourage child poverty and economic abuse of children.

The Department has partnered with the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) in Kwa-Zulu Natal to raise awareness on child maintenance among taxi drivers and the community at large. The march seeks to encourage maintenance defaulters to pay maintenance and to urge fathers’ involvement in the upbringing and nurturing of their children.

The March will end at the Durban City Hall where a one-hour programme will commence. Members of the media are invited as follows:
