The Deputy Minister of Health Dr Joe Phaahla and the MEC for Health in North West Dr Magome Masike invites you to join them on Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Day. The Healthy Lifestyle Day is globally commemorated during the month of February annually to raise awareness on the importance of healthy lifestyles practices, especially with a focus on regular physical activity. Physical inactivity among communities is one of the leading risk factors that cause hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs). There’s an urgent need to reduce NCDs by addressing the four key underlying risk factors like physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, tobacco use, alcohol consumption and safe sex.
The health promotion activities will be held in Tlokwe Sub-District on the 20th of February 2015 as follows:
- Visit to the ICDM clinic by the Deputy Minister, MEC for Health and officials;
- Healthy lifestyles dialogues with community members;
- Physical activity programmes; and
