Deputy Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize hands over bursaries and tablets to deserving matriculants, 7 Jan

Deputy Minister Prof.  Hlengiwe Mkhize in partnership with Vodacom and Telkom will hand over bursaries and tablets to deserving matriculants who come from poor  communities in and around the Randburg /Bryanston areas.

In an effort to assist 18 matriculants who come from poor backgrounds in communities which fall under Randburg and Bryanston, the office of the Deputy Minister approached a number of telephone networks to assist these learners who have done well in the 2014 matric exams, but due to financial constraints are unable to further their studies.

There are a number of poor areas that fall under Randburg and Bryanston. These include areas such as Zandspruit, Thabo Mbeki Squatter Camp, Diepsloot. etc. Most families in these areas are very poor with little or no income.

Deserving learners from these areas will be awarded bursaries to further their studies as well as tablets to motivate them and to make learning easy.

Vodacom and Telkom are the two companies that have responded positively and agreed to offer their assistance to these matriculants, giving them the opportunity to reach their goals.

Members of the media are invited to attend the event.
