Deputy Minister Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu hosts PinkDrive stand at the Comrades Marathon Expo, 28 to 30 May

The Deputy Minister of Social Development, Hon. Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, in support of the PinkDrive, invites the media to visit the PinkDrive stand at the Comrades Marathon Expo, which will be taking place on the 28 - 30 May 2015.

The Expo is part of the ‘Ultimate Human Race’ Comrades Marathon which will starts at the Durban City Hall and will end in Pietermaritzburg on 31st of May 2015. PinkDrive will have official water point activation on route at Polly Shortts.

PinkDrive is one of the six official charities of the Amabeadibeadi Charity Drive. At this event, athletes have the opportunity and choice to “Race4Charity” and in doing so, raising much needed funds for the charities. This year PinkDrive has a total of 122 runners of which 91 runners are in the “Race4Charity” batch.

These athletes have raised R5 000.00 or more to fight breast cancer. To date, R998,599.50 has been raised for PinkDrive with Carel Nolte top donor in the “Race4Charity” campaign standing on R130 370.00.

The Deputy Minister will show her support to the cause by joining the PinkDrive team on the PinkDrive stand, during the Comrades Expo. Deputy Minister says “Social development needs to become everybody’s business if we are to succeed in our collective goal of improving the lives of individuals, families and communities. It therefore requires that every citizen and resident of South Africa, gets behind PinkDrive in order to keep women and men alive by fighting cancer.”

Recently the Comrades Marathon Race Directors announced that PinkDrive will be part of the Amabeadibeadi Charities for the next three years.

Noelene Kotschan, CEO and Founder of PinkDrive expresses her excitement about Comrades by saying that PinkDrive is honoured to be part of this iconic race, especially this year. “PinkDrive is ecstatic and privileged to be part of the 90th Comrades Marathon this year. We are thankful all athletes who raise awareness and funds for our worthy cause. You are helping PinkDrive to ‘outpace’ cancer” said Kotschan.
