Hand over of accessible computer (ICT) Centre to Bosele School for the blind and partially sighted

The media is invited to the hand-over of accessible computer (ICT) Centre to Bosele School for the blind and partially sighted event which is to take place on the 27th February 2014 in Mosterlus, Sekhukhune.

Schools for learners with disabilities are commonly challenged by lack of resources and infrastructure. The Office of the Deputy Minister for Women, Children and People with Disabilities, led by the Deputy Minister Hon Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, MP together with the MTN Foundation South Africa, have formed a partnership to establish accessible computer laboratories with specialized equipment that is responsive to the special needs of blind and partially sighted learners.

Bosele School for the Blind was identified as one of the schools for the blind without a computer lab. It was found that children who complete matric at Bosele School only get to meet a computer at a higher learning institution of which it has been a disadvantage and has affected their performance.
