The Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Joe Phaahla will lead the National Oral Health Month commemoration activities tomorrow - Wednesday, 10 September 2014 - in the Western Cape. The proceedings will start at Ludwe Primary School in Khayelitsha at 09h00, and then move to Heinzpark Primary School and a Dental School in Mitchells Plain.
September has been identified as International Oral Health Month. Therefore these events will take place in the form of a launch for Oral Health Month where communities will be made aware of oral health services and the Health Policy focused on access to health by everyone. The theme for this year is “No health without Oral Health”.
Personnel from relevant health programmes will provide health education under the following subjects:
- Oral health education.
- Oral health related nutritional education
- Oral hygiene as part of personal hygiene and healthy lifestyle
- Promotion of integrated school health care
- Tooth brushing session
- Handing out of promotional material
Media houses are invited to join the department in this outreach programme.
