The Deputy Minister of Health Dr Gwen Ramokgopa will deliver the keynote address and lead the soil turning proceedings during launch of the new Botshilu Private Hospital in Soshanguve. This hospital will help to achieve the anticipated goal of creating central, comprehensive healthcare facilities for our communities and, this time, specifically people living in the north of Pretoria.
Date: Thursday, 18 July 2013.
The Gauteng Department of Health granted permission for the establishment of the Botshilu Private Hospital with the vision of providing improved access to high quality healthcare services in Soshanguve. The determination of the management team of this project, supported by committed Government funding through facilities from the Public Investment Corporation and the Industrial Development Corporation, has resulted in this R215 million community based Botshilu Private Hospital now coming to fruition.
The hospital will offer a wide variety of specialist services to suit the general requirements of the community it will serve. Some of the disciplines and expert services that will be available at the hospital include cardiothoracic surgery, dermatology, endocrinology, general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, paediatrics, pathology as well as plastic and reconstructive surgery, to name a few.
Construction of the 100 bed hospital is already underway and will bring new healthcare services – including specialised medical care that requires expert medical staff and state-of-the-art technology – which the facility will bring to the community. Many prominent public figures, government principals, medical professionals, the project team as well as community members will be attending the launch event.
Besides top quality healthcare that will be easily accessible to the community, the hospital will also assist in job creation, with the project creating over 200 new jobs for the Soshanguve community and the City of Tshwane.
Members of the media are invited to the launch and post activities.
