Deputy Minister Enver Surty visits MC Kharbai Special School in Lenasia as part of back to school campaign, 17 Jan

Basic Education Ministry to visit schools as Part of Provincial School readiness visits

As Department of Basic Education heralds the start of a new school year, the Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Mr Enver Surty will on Wednesday, 17 January 2018 in partnership with the MTN SA Foundation handover a Multi-Media Centre and 404 pairs of school shoes at MC Kharbai Special School in Lenasia, Johannesburg. This forms part of the MTN 2018 Back to School Campaign, and the Department of Basic Education’s school readiness visits.

The partnership between the Department of Basic Education and the MTN SA Foundation will see disadvantaged learners across four provinces, namely Gauteng, the Western Cape as well as the Northern and Eastern Cape receive school shoes and bicycles. In addition the partnership will enable and broaden access to digital learning through continued support to learners at schools where the Foundation has established Multi-Media centers.

Other speakers include the MTN SA Foundation General Manager Ms Kusile Mtunzi-Hairwadzi, the school Principal and SGB.
