The Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Mr Enver Surty will officially open the Teacher Training on Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) for Technical Schools on 15 July 2015 at Adcorp Training Centre in Welkom, Free State.
In line with global trends lead by countries such as Denmark and Germany, the departments drive towards embracing vocational education includes the training of teachers. This move is aimed at recapitalising technical schools and will ensure the supply of resources in schools to enhance the skills of both teachers and learners in technology subjects, in line with the skills and requirements needed to services todays growing technological and technical industries.
As part of his visit, the Deputy Minister will take a tour of the facilities and see first-hand the technical abilities that will result from such training sessions and its contribution in the creation of artisans
This leg of the training will see three provinces involved with training on 13 – 17 July 2015 in Welkom. The three provinces are Free State, Northern Cape and Mpumalanga.
