Deputy Minister Dipuo Peters rolls up programme to uplift small businesses in Free State, 2 to 6 Dec

The Department of Small Business Development, led by Deputy Minister Dipuo Peters, will descend on the Free State on Saturday, 2 December 2023 as part of the department’s programme to uplift small businesses in the province. The programme will see the Deputy Minister criss-crossing the length and breadth of the province to deliver business material and equipment which are essential for the success and sustainability of their businesses. 

Over 230 informal traders from different municipalities in the Free State will benefit from the department’s Informal and Micro Enterprises Development Programme (IMEDP) which mainly targets businesses owned by women, youth and people with disabilities especially those in townships and rural areas.

In addition, Deputy Minister will also officially open the Shared Economic Infrastructure Facility (SEIF) project

in Mangaung on Wednesday, 6 December 2023. SEIF enables black-owned small businesses to be integrated

into the mainstream economy. The programme helps to unlock public sector investment by providing

infrastructure that is critical and necessary to crowd-in investment mostly in townships, rural areas and

inner city.

The Deputy Minister’s programme is part of the build-up programme to the Presidential Imbizo which will take place on the 7th of December 2023 in Lejweleputswa District, Free State.

The build-up programme will unfold as follows:

First Programme: Mafube Local Municipality (02 December 2023)

Deputy Minister Dipuo Peters will hand over business equipment to over 60 informal traders operating around Mafube Local Municipality. The hand over will take place as follows:

Second event: Kopanong local municipality, Xhariep district Municipality (04 December 2023)

Deputy Minister Dipuo Peters will hand over business equipment to more than 100 beneficiaries operating in the Xhariep District Municipality:

Venue: Trompsburg Taxi Rank (near Nzula Hospital), Kopanong Local Municipality, Free State Province

Third event: Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality (06 December 2023)

Deputy Minister Dipuo Peters will officially launch the Shared Economic Infrastructure Facility (SEIF) project

and also hand over business equipment to over 70 beneficiaries who are operating around Mangaung.
