The Deputy Minister for Small Business Development, Ms Dipuo Peters to handover machinery and equipment to informal traders in the Western Province

Deputy Minister Dipuo Peters will on Tuesday 21 November 2023, lead a delegation of senior officials and programme managers from the Small Business Development Portfolio to handover equipment to 90 qualifying informal business owners in Nyanga, City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality. Amongst these beneficiaries, 30 of them are rehabilitated ex-offenders and those still under rehabilitation.

The Informal and Micro Enterprises Development Programme (IMEDP) provides developmental support to small businesses that are mostly operating in townships and rural areas of South Africa. This initiative is a nationwide trajectory striving to accelerate the growth of informal and micro enterprises by improving their competitiveness and sustainability to become formal businesses in the mainstream economy. The focus is mainly on designated groups, i.e. women, youth and people with disabilities.
