Deputy Minister Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba reports back to the community of Khayelitsha in the Western Cape
The Deputy Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba, will return to Khayelitsha on Friday, 17 November 2017, to give a report back to the community after an Imbizo held on 12 May 2017.
During the Imbizo in May, community members expressed disappointment at politicians who only interact with them pre-election time, make promises and never return. This prompted the Deputy Minister to promise that she would return with a progress report on the issues raised.
The issues raised by the community of Khayelitsha include, lack of sanitation, quality housing, substance abuse, safety concerns, a need for a police station and a lack of recreational parks amongst others.
The community outreach is part of the ‘Batho Pele - Putting People First’ programme aimed at responding to service delivery challenges experienced by the community of Khayelitsha.
