Residents of Rolle and the surrounding villages in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, will have an opportunity to interact and engage with Public Service and Administration Deputy Minister, Dr Chana Pilane-Majake on issues of service delivery as well as to share their experiences on challenges that affect their lives on a daily basis.
On Friday, June 8, 2018, Deputy Minister, Pilane-Majake is scheduled to visit the community as part of taking government to the people through a service delivery Imbizo to be held under the theme “Fast tracking service delivery in our communities.”
The outreach programme, to be hosted jointly with the Mayor of the local municipality, Cllr Sylvia Nxumalo is part of the Department of Public Service and Administration’s ‘Batho Pele- putting people first’ programme aimed at providing an unmediated and interactive information sharing platform with the local communities on issues of service delivery and governance.
The two leaders are also expected to visit government service delivery points in the local municipality to observe if indeed government services are rendered in line with Batho Pele principles, the notion of putting people first.
The visit will provide an opportunity to liaise with officials in frontline service points to ascertain the challenges they are experiencing and obstacles that hinder their maximum delivery of services.
The Imbizo will afford the Deputy Minister an opportunity to respond to the challenges through capacitating government institutions with the requisite skills and information to improve the level of service delivery quality.
Imbizo is a dialogue between government and people aimed at instilling confidence and robust, participatory democracy where members of national, provincial and local government interact with communities across the country through door-to-door household visits, project visits and direct community engagements.
On the day of the Imbizo, members of the community will have the opportunity to receive services and engage with officials from service delivery departments.
