The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Candith Mashego-Dlamini will visit an Agri Parks production site at Mooifontein in North West, on 2 December 2015.
This forms part of Imbizo Focus Week, which seeks to engage the public, targeted beneficiaries, partners and stakeholders countrywide in implementation of the Nine-Point Plan to grow the South African economy.
Three Agri Parks have been identified for the province of North West. Agri- Park is a farmer-controlled entity that serves as a catalyst around which rural industrialisation is planned to takes place. The aim is for the park to provide a network of contacts between producers, markets and processors, as well as infra- structure to process agricultural products.
The Department has identified economically viable sites in all 44 districts across the country for the construction of Agri-Parks and R2 billion has been set aside for this agri-park initiative, of which 1% will go into capacity building especially in municipalities.
