Deputy Minister Buti Manamela assesses state of readiness at institutions of higher learning, 2 and 3 Oct

Deputy Minister Buti Manamela visits institutions of higher learning to assess the academic state of readiness and monitor the safety protocols for the phased re-opening of campuses under Level 1

Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Mr Buti Manamela will visit institutions of higher learning in Eastern Cape to asses and monitor the state of readiness for the recommencement of academic activities. The visit will be in line with the reopening of the Post-School Education and Training system under Level 1. 

Minister Blade Nzimande has already announced a phased reopening of academic activities across the sector in accordance with the relevant alert levels. As a result, universities, community education and training centres, and TVET colleges have already begun to welcome back more students and staff to campuses.

The Deputy Minister will also use this visit to embark on a NSFAS 2021 Application campaign by communicating with student community to ensure that all leaners that are eligible for funding apply on time.

The Deputy Minister’s visit will take place under the following details:
