Deputy Minister Buti Manamela addresses fifth Biennial Monitoring and Evaluation conference, 14 Oct

The Deputy Minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) Mr Buti Manamela will address the fifth  Biennial South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA) Conference under the theme “Using evaluations to improve people's lives”.

The conference is a partnership between the DPME, Public Service Commission and SAMEA. The conference will be the premier Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) event in South Africa and the domestic culmination of the International Year of Evaluation 2015, which was launched by Minister Jeff Radebe on the 19th March 2015 at the University of Witwatersrand.

The conference will address the following sub-thematic areas: Evaluation use, accountability and public interest (focusing on both state and non-state sectors; Approaches, designs and methods for monitoring, evaluating and conveying developmental impact; and Key issues facing international development evaluation.

The conference is preceded by two and half days of capacity building workshops with a record 19 workshops on offer. Over 100 oral presentations were accepted for the conference, this will make for excellent debates and engagements on some of the most pressing issues facing the M&E community.
