Deputy Minister Bulelani Magwanishe revamps Vosloorus Comprehensive School for Mandela Day, 17 Jul

Public Enterprises Deputy Minister Bulelani Magwanishe and Transnet Chairperson, Ms Linda Mabaso, to spend 67 minutes revamping a Vosloorus Comprehensive School in honour of Stalwart, Mandela

The Department of Public Enterprises Deputy Minister Bulelani Magwanishe together with State Owned Company (SOC) Transnet will get their hands dirty at the Vosloorus Comprehensive School on Friday 17 July 2015, as part of the Mandela Day commemorations.

Under the theme, “Make every day a Mandela day: Contributing 67 minutes of our time to help those in need”, Government has called on all South Africans to actively participate in the Mandela Day celebrations.

The activities of the day will include lying of wooden floors, painting and upgrading of the classrooms and the technical workshops at the school. The school is located 10km away from Transnet’s Germiston Freight Rail Operations and thus places an advantageous position for Transnet to facilitate training and capacitate the school, going forward.

The school was also chosen and identified strategic as it will be converted to a technical school and thus, will allow the learners to be trained as artisans in the fields of welding, fitting and turning and electronics.  This school is expected to play a role in addressing the shortage of scarce technical skills in the country.
