Deputy Minister Bulelani Magwanishe hands over dining hall and kitchen to Masizakhe Children’s home, 21 Nov

Deputy Ministers to officially handover a dining hall and kitchen Masizakhe Children’s home and host a public participation programme

Deputy Minister of Public Enterprises, Bulelani Magwanishe joined by Deputy Minister of Communications, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams and Chairperson of Transnet Board, Linda Mabaso will carry out a public participation programme and officially hand over the Masizakhe Children’s home newly built dining hall and kitchen at Mdantsane in Eastern Cape on Saturday, 21 November 2015.

After visiting the centre in December 2013, Deputy Ministers witnessed the dire situation the Children’s home is in. There was limited space and cooking of meals had to take place inside the dormitories and no access to Information Technology and Communication equipment.   

Deputy Ministers Magwanishe has since through Transnet built a kitchen and dining hall for children at the centre to the value of R1.7 million. The Department of Communications donated tablets with educational content for the children to be technologically connected.
 
The handing over of the building coincides with the World Children’s Day; which marks its 25th anniversary of the children charter, under the theme: Promoting Children’s Rights. The aim of the National Children's Day celebration is to highlight progress being made towards the realisation and promotion of rights of children.

Members of the Eastern Cape Executive Committee (MECs), Members of Provincial Legislature (MPLs) will be in attendance.
