Deputy Minister, Andries Nel, will visit a Community Work Programme (CWP) site in Theewaterskloof Local Municipality, Grabouw, Western Cape Province. The visit is in line with the commemoration of Women’s Day.
The Deputy Minister will be accompanied by the Executive Mayor of Overberg District Municipality, Cllr De Bruyn and the Executive Mayor of Theewaterskloof Local Municipality, Cllr Punt.
The delegation will visit CWP projects that are being implemented in the area such as the Feeding scheme which benefits vulnerable groups; Ikhwezi Early Childhood Development Centre etc. The Deputy Minister will also address about 1000 CWP participants who are benefiting from the Programme as well as other members of the community.

The Community Work Programme is a Government initiative designed to provide an employment safety net to eligible participants by offering them a minimum number of regular days of work each month. The programme targets the unemployed Youth, Women and People with Disabilities.
