Deputy Labour Minister Phathekile Holomisa addresses inaugural Employment Equity Awards, 15 Oct

South Africa’s Labour Deputy Minister, iNkosi Phathekile Holomisa is to deliver a keynote address at the  Department of Labour and the Commission for Employment Equity (CEE) inaugural Employment Equity Awards tomorrow.

The gala event is scheduled to be held at Gallagher Estate, Midrand tomorrow (October 15). It will be for the first time in South Africa that awards aimed at recognising employers in furthering the purpose of the Employment Equity Act are bestowed.

The Awards intend to reward companies that excel in advancing the true spirit of transformation by: implementing affirmative action measures to redress the disadvantages in employment; promoting equal opportunity, diversity and fair treatment in employment and for the elimination of unfair discrimination; ensuring that suitably qualified people from designated groups have equal employment opportunities and have equitable representation in all occupational levels in the workplace; and those transforming the workplace to achieve employment equity and diversity.

Organisations to be rewarded includes both the public and private sector.
