Departments' Fisheries Management branch tackles challenges headon

The Fisheries Branch of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) is making steady headway in tackling operational challenges in the fishing industry with a series of intervention plans being implemented.

The plan is to focus on the management of the DAFF vessel fleet, research surveys, the long term fishing allocation process and the management of the fishing harbours.

The department will hold a media conference on Thursday, 28 February 2013 to elaborate on these plans and to clarify several inaccuracies about developments in the branch.
