The Minister of Communications, Honourable Dina Pule and the Minister of Transport, Honourable Dikobe Ben Martins, will celebrate World Telecommunications and Information Society Day (WTISD) in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The two principals will be joined by the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, His Excellency Dr. Zweli Mkhize and senior national and provincial government officials.
Celebrated annually under the auspices of the International Telecommunications Union, a body of the United Nations responsible for the regulation of telecommunications, the theme for the WTISD 2013 is Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Improving Road Safety.
As part of the celebrations, the Ministers will also host a round-table stakeholder workshop for experts in Road Safety and ICT, with the aim of developing a collaboration agreement that will be signed by both Ministers. (Umhlathuze Accord).
