The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti), in partnership with Wits University - Corporate Strategy and Industrial Development (CSID), will be hosting an economic policy dialogue entitled "Africa’s Regional Economic Integration through Industrialisation – Challenges and Opportunities". The dialogue will take place at Bytes Conference Centre, Midrand, on Monday, 3 December 2012 at 13h30.
Members of the panel include the Director-General of the Department of Trade and Industry, Lionel October, internationally renowned economists Dr Iraj Abedian, the CEO of Pan African Capital Holdings, and Mr Gengezi Mgidlana, Director of Strategy and Knowledge Management at the (New Partnership for Africa's Development) NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA)
October says the purpose of the session is to encourage ongoing and dynamic debate on contemporary issues that impact on the South African society in general and the economy in particular.
CSID is a leading economic research organisation in South Africa on issues related to the economic development and policy, including industrial and financial policies. It is located within the School of Economics and Business Sciences (SEBS) at Wits University and offers postgraduate degrees in the theory and application of economic development.
