The Government of the Republic of South Africa, represented by the Free State Provincial Government, Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, under the guidance and leadership of the MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, honorable Dan Kgothule and the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Ministry for Gender and Youth, Sport and Recreation, will take hands in future to host several joint and separate events within the Free State as well as the Kingdom of Lesotho.
This cross border relationship is the brainchild of MEC Kgothule and will serve to strengthen the relationship between the Republic of South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho through direct cooperation in sporting events, particularly with the Free State Province. Also to share expertise with regards to Sport and Recreation.
The agreement will also strive to promote and strengthen existing friendly relations and cooperation between the parties in the fields of Sport and Recreation, whilst encouraging and further develop their amicable relationship through the exchange of programs aimed at benefiting the participants in the Sport and Recreation activities within the Free State province and the Kingdom of Lesotho.
The minister for Gender and Youth, Sport and Recreation of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Hon Minister Chief Thesele ‘Maseribane is set to visit the department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (Free State). This visit is a follow up on the relations and issues initiated on the 26th Oct 2012 during the Free State and Lesotho meeting in Maseru.
The visit will be from 25 – 27 November 2012 and will include a facilities visit at the FSSSI (Free State Sport Science Institute) as well as Multipurpose sport courts in the Welkom area.
