The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) will host a roundtable discussion on Africa Public Service Day (APSD) at Velmore Conference Centre in Pretoria. The roundtable forms part of the APSD celebrations which take place annually on 23 June.
Celebrations began on Thursday, 20 June 2013 with an exhibition at the Refilwe show grounds in Cullinan, Pretoria where national government departments and the Tshwane Metropolitan municipality showcased their l services, products and best practices in ensuring quality access and empowerment of citizens.
The roundtable is an expert-led multi-stakeholder panel discussion which will provide a platform of in-depth engagement on the different aspects related to open government and South Africa’s status towards the advancement of an open government by Executive Authorities, government officials, Chapter nine institutions, academia, local and continental experts, Non-Governmental Organisations, Community Based Organizations and citizens.
This dialogue will include the background and rational for South Africa’s participation in this global multilateral partnership of Open Government; why the African continent should be part of the Open Government Partnership and an update on the implementation of the country’s action plan.
Discussions will be held under the sub-themes, “Strengthening Citizen Participation”, “Enhancing accountability, transparency and integrity” and “enhancing access to information”
