In an effort to improve quality of healthcare in the province, the Gauteng Department of Health will on Friday, 14 June 2013 open a step-down and paediatric wards at Carletonville Hospital in West Rand.
The Step-down Ward is aimed at relieving increased bed occupancy in medical units and assist to down refer patients that are stable and ready for discharge but have outstanding results or are awaiting placement in a home based care.
The 30 bedded paediatric ward and the 20 bedded Step-Down Ward are equipped with state of the art equipment was revamped by AngloGold Ashanti
The Minister of Mineral Resources, Susan Shabangu will deliver a keynote address at the event.
The Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi together with Gauteng MEC for Health Hope Papo will be in attendance to accept the refurbished units.
