The MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Mr D. A. M Kgothule, is proud to announce that the community of Jacobsdal/ Ratanang is about to receive a brand new and spacious library on 28 August 2013.
This flagship library within the Xhariep district will fill a huge gap in terms of providing the information needs of the community who can look forward to moving from a one-roomed library to a fully-fledged centre of information excellence.
The library is furnished with separate children and adult sections, a reading area with modern furniture, a computer room, reference section, study area, library hall, kitchen and toy library.
The public will have access to 16 computers with Internet Access, e-mail and word processing facilities. The library also provides an e-book facility where library users can download e-books using the library’s tablets or their own smart phones.
The ‘Fairyland’ Toy Library, located within this new library, is a safe haven for children to play at. Furnished with 200 educational toys, the sky will be the limit for the young ones. Some of the toys are aimed at users from 8 to 80 years old and these includes, amongst others, chess, puzzles, scrabble and a South African version of monopoly.
Everybody is welcome at this spacious and safe library with ample parking space on the neatly paved parking area.
