The Department of Labour (DoL) will on July 22 to 26 embark on a national blitz inspections programme targeting the hospitality sector to enforce compliance with labour laws of South Africa.
The blitz inspections programme led by the DoL’s Inspection and Enforcement Services (IES) Branch will target hospitality establishments in KwaZulu-Natal province, Limpopo province, Mpumalanga province, North West province, and the Western Cape province.
The objective of the blitz inspections programme is to enhance the visibility of the department’s inspectorate services across the country and improve compliance in industries with high Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) incidents and sectoral determinations in all industries.
The hospitality sector is one of the sectors that has been identified by the Department of Labour as high risk sectors and as well as problematic when it comes to non-compliance with the country’s labour laws.
