The Department of Human Settlements will be demolishing 73-year-old Mrs Egnas Dyidi's home to build her a new disabled friendly home

Mrs Dyidi lives in Nyanga East with her 5-year-old grandchild and has been bed-ridden for 13 years due to extreme obesity and elephantiasis.

The department was alerted by her community about her health and living conditions as she is an extremely obese elderly woman who has lost their mobility through obesity and struggling daily to survive.

Various inter-governmental interventions have been activated and implemented to assist Mrs. Dyidi to gain access to disability grants through Social Development & she is currently in a Health facility for medical observations.

The Deputy Minister Zou Kota-Fredericks together with NHBRC will hold a sod turning ceremony to mark the demolition of her old dilapidated home and the beginning of a new life for Mrs. Dyidi and her 5 years old Grandchild.
