Department host a strategic retreat to develop a 100 days action plan

In a quest to review and revise its operational strategy and put more emphasis on solutions to redress impediments on local government administration and traditional leadership institutions, the North West Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs will from 13 – 16 January 2013 host a 4 days departmental strategic retreat at Stonehenge in Parys.

Under the theme “Re-aligning the department with Municipalities and institutions of Traditional Leadership” the department will re-look into challenges encountered since the beginning of the financial year and declare interventions where necessary.

These interventions will assist the department to revamp and synergise with municipalities and institutions of traditional leaders to curb operating in silos thus accelerating service delivery in municipalities and stabilising governance in traditional councils.

The MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Thamsanqa China Dodovu is also expected to announce the “next 100 days action plan” to implement resolutions taken as well as monitor and evaluate the stability thereof within 100 days after the conclusion of the strategic retreat.
