The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in collaboration with the Fezile Dabi District, Moqhaka Local Municipality and People with Disability structures, will be hosting the Provincial People with Disability Games from 7 to 9 December 2012 in Maokeng/Kroonstad.
The games take place within three disciplines: Intellectually Impaired (II); Physically Challenged (PC) and Visually Impaired (VI). They are multi-coded in nature and include the following sporting codes: Soccer (deaf), Netball (Intellectually Impaired), Table Tennis (Physically Challenged), Goal ball (Partially Blind and blind), Chess (Physically Challenged), Diketo (Physically Challenged) and Morabaraba (Physically Challenged).
Participants are selected from the four districts and Metro to participate at these Provincial competitions. Each district and the Metro will send a team contingent of 73 participants, both boys and girls, in different disciplines, some of whom will be competing in wheelchairs. The total number of participants, coaches, team managers and technical officials will be 365.
Teams are expected to arrive on 7 December and depart on 9 December.
