Bloemfontein: Twenty two (22) young people from Qwaqwa who have completed their learnership programme in the field of Nature Conservation will be graduating and receiving certificates. This is made possible by the Department of Economic Development, Tourism, Environmental Affairs and Small Business Development in partnership with Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality, Sport, Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSETTA) and SANParks with the aim of increasing a number of skilled young people in the said field.

These learners started the Nature Conservation Resource Management Terrestrial course with theoretical training at the South African Wildlife College in Mpumalanga for a period of 5 months and completed the course with experiential training at Golden Gate for another 5 months. During his 2014/15 budget vote speech, MEC Mosebenzi Zwane said with this learnership programme, the department wants to enhance the skills and knowledge of the students in the area of Nature Conservation as well as career pathing in future endeavours.

With this post matric certificate that the learners are going to receive, they can be employable anywhere in the Nature Conservation field. MEC Mosebenzi Zwane will address the learners at the graduation ceremony.
