Department to discuss spatial planning and land use management

The North West Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs in partnership with the National Department of Rural Development and Land Reform, is to host a workshop on the North West Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Bill (NWSPLUMB), with the intention of aligning it to the National Spatial Land Management Use Act of 2013.

The NWSPLUMB is intended to introduce principles, norms and standards for land development and land use management in the Province and therefore the process of aligning the NWSPLUMB with the Act will ensure that all forms of planning in the Province, are consistent with the objectives of the Act and are coordinated, equitable, inclusive and efficient.

The process will also ensure that the unique challenges that are in the province and not adequately addressed in the Act, can be addressed through the North West Spatial Planning and Land System.

The workshop will be attended but town planners from municipalities in the province, representatives from sector departments as well as representatives from institutions of traditional leadership.

The workshop will be held as follows:
Date: 7 August 2013
