The Department of Communications to host various budget vote speech 2013 activities

The Minister of Communications, Ms Dina Pule and Deputy Minister, Mrs Stella Ndabeni -Abrahams, will be officiating activities leading up to Departmental Budget Vote Speech 2013.

The Minister and Deputy Minister are determined to promote the use of Information Communications Technology (ICT) tools for socio-economic development as such they have collaborated with various organisations to fast-track ICT skills development in the country.

The Department through the e- Skills Institute plans to capacitate approximately 10 million South Africans in the areas of e- literacy, e-skills for government services, and has set itself a target of being a global leader. The Minister on Monday, 20 May will be launching a proof of concept at the e-Skills Institute Strand Offices, she will be joined by the giants of the industry such as CISCO Systems, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) etc.
The Deputy Minister will be launching a computer lab with 20 computers to the Nurul Islam Education in Heideveld Mosque Centre.

Then the Minister will underline the Department’s priorities deliverables for the coming year namely; Broadband, Digital Migration, Rural Development, Post Bank, Information Communications Technology Policy Review etc. The Minister will be joined by the ICT industry, members of Parliament and other related stakeholders in this event

18 May 2013
The Deputy Minister will launch a computer lab at the Nurul Islam Education at Heideveld Mosque Centre, Banhoek St, Heideveld, Cape Town at 11h00. 

20 May 2013
The preview launch of the e- Skilling South Africa Action Plan on at e -Skills Institute, 29 George Street, Strand , Cape Town Cape Town at 09h00.

21 May 2013
The Ministry of Communications, Minister Dina Pule will deliver the Department’s 2013 Budget Vote Speech in Parliament on the 21st of May 2013 at 10h00 in Room E249. A press conference will follow at 12h30 in the Imbizo Room.
