As the rest of the country celebrates Youth Month, the North West Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs will on Monday, 10 June 2013 at the Ben Marais Hall in Rustenburg at 9h00, be celebrating its efforts to empower young people with the necessary skills to increase their chances of being employed.
Twenty unemployed youth from Bojanala Platinum District will be awarded with National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 5 certificates in Community Development Practices after undergoing a twelve months learnership programme.
The learnership programme which kick-started in Bojanala Platinum District, is part of the Department’s Community Development training plan for financial years 2012-2015. The learnership will also be rolled out in the three remaining districts, i.e. Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati, Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Ngaka Modiri Molema.
Through this learnership programme, the department aims to advance the fundamentals of quality service delivery in our communities and continues to strive for sustainable methods which it will ensure that community development practitioners have the necessary and relevant capacity and skill to facilitate programs which maintain the flow of services at community level.
