Department of Basic Education commemorates the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2014 in Tlhabane

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) will commemorate the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2014 at Tlhabane Technical High School in Tlhabane, Rustenburg on Thursday, 24 June 2014.

Under the theme “Don’t let binging be your sinking”, the event is aimed at sensitising learners about dangers of alcohol abuse which has adverse consequences on academic performance and lack of sporting activities.

The DBE aims to ensure that all learners in the system are firmly aware and actively involved in the departments Drug and Alcohol Prevention program. The importance of partnering with schools, School Governing Body (SGB’s), communities, South African Police Service (SAPS) and stakeholders needs to be reaffirmed and having these partners present at the event serves to solidify relations between all parties.
