The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) resumes with the trial of its members implicated in the illegal protest march to the Union Buildings in 2009
South African National Defence Force (SANDF) members, who are implicated in the illegal protest march to the Union Buildings on 26 August 2009, are appearing before the Military Court for disobeying the SANDF’s Military Disciplinary Supplementary Measures Act. The proceedings resume on 18 March 2014 at SA Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg at 09h00.
The resumption of the proceedings follows the postponement by the Presiding Judge of a Military Court, on 21 November 2013 due to an urgent High Court Interdict after hearing arguments from the defence lawyers.
The Chief of the South African National Defence Force is entrusted with the constitutional mandate of ensuring that discipline in the military is maintained. The significant stride of this mandate ensures that the people of South Africa are and feel safe, and by extension, that discipline in the military is non-negotiable.
Members of the media are invited to send a cameraperson and or/ journalist to cover the event. Kindly confirm your attendance before 18 March 2014 to Lieutenant Romeo Mabote on 083 384 3583.
