South African National Defence Force (SANDF) repatriates and officially hands over the mortal remains of Sergeant V.J Mabena to his family
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) will host a handing over ceremony of the mortal remains of Sergeant Vusumuzi Joseph Mabena who died on 05 February 2023 during an incident where an Oryx was shot at in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The mortal remains will officially be handed over during a military procession ceremony at Air Force Base Waterkloof on Sunday, 12 February 2023. The ceremony will commence at 14h00, all attending must be seated by 13h45. The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Thandi Modise has been requested to form part of the Department of Defence officials attending the handing over ceremony.
All media houses interested to attend the event should send the following information to Defence Corporate Communication on sandfmedialiaison@gmail.com, name of the media house, names and surnames of the members attending the ceremony by 09h00 on the 12th February 2023.
The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Thandi Modise, the Deputy Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Mr Thabang Makwetla, the Acting Secretary for Defence, Dr Gamede and the Chief of the South African National Defence Force, General Rudzani Maphwanya extend their heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the deceased.
