The SA Air Force hosts a acceptance parade of His Majesty, King Tony Mphephu Ramabulane as an Honarary Colonel at Air Force Base Makhado
The South African Air Force (SAAF) will host an Acceptance Parade of his Majesty, King Tony Mphephu Ramabulane as an Honorary Colonel at Air Force Base Makhado on Wednesday 14 March 2018 at 10h00. Chief of South African Air Force, Lieutenant General Zimpande Zakes Msimang will officiate as the main functionary at the parade. Members of the Executive Committee of Provincial Legislature and members of the Limpopo Traditional House will attend.
The appointment of Honorary Colonels/Captains (SAN) is an established tradition in the SANDF wherein any prominent citizen of the RSA interested or deemed fit in the preparedness and wellbeing of the SANDF may be appointed as such for that particular unit or base. In the case of SA Navy it will be Honorary Captain.
The appointment of Honorary Colonels/Captains is regulated in terms of Section 87(m) of the Defence Act No 42 of 2002 as amended, General Regulations Chapter 111, Regulation 8 and DOD Instruction No 49/2001 dated 6 November 2001.
