Defence celebrates Armed Forces Day, 21 Feb

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) invites the community of Potchefstroom and surrounding areas to celebrate Armed Forces Day on Saturday, 21 February 2015. The Commander in Chief and President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency President Jacob Zuma, will be the main functionary at the event. The majestic celebrations will include a mass flypast by the SA Air Force, medal presentation, street parade and career exhibition. The event is aimed at honouring the men and women in uniform who selfishly serve the nation, and the North West Community to witness our men and women parade in the streets of Potchefstroom.

The main military parade will start at 10:00 from Tlokwe Municipality buildings between Nelson Mandela Road and Wolmarans Street. Once the parade is completed, a convoy of the armoured mechanised column consisting of a wide range of specialised military vehicles and equipment, such as Olifant combat tanks, Rooikat armoured vehicles, G6 self propelled guns, Ratel infantry combat vehicles and many other specialist vehicles, will move through the town’s routes to the thank the community of Potchefstroom and surrounding community areas of Ikageng, Promosa and Mohadin for their continued support.
