As part of Mandela Day, Department of Correctional Services ‘officials, offenders and Legal Aid South Africa will contribute to disadvantaged community child care centre in Pretoria, Kameeldrift informal settlement in need of assistance and support.
Officials and offenders will be renovating and painting a child care center where children of 0-5 years are cared for. From tomorrow, offenders from Baviaan Correctional Centre will be fixing classrooms, ceilings, windows, walls and painting. The under-privileged crèche, and children, receives fresh vegetables and meat, grown and cultivated, by offenders at our correctional centre farms.
Officials from Correctional Services and Legal Aid South Africa will also donate the much needed resources to the day care centre and to the kids.
