The Department of Basic Education (DBE) in partnership with Tiger Brands and Nelson Mandela Foundation invites media to the Food Parcel Distribution activation taking place on Friday, 27 June 2014 in Alexandra Township, Johannesburg.
The Food Parcel Project is part of a three year partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation that aims to address food security challenges in our country and has seen 12 million daily meals fed to beneficiaries on an annual basis while 107 000 are distributed to the destitute per year.
Tiger Brands Foundation supports DBE’s National School nutrition Programme with in-school breakfast meals where over 39 000 learners in 60 schools nationwide are fed daily. The Food Parcel project ensures that the good work that both feeding programmes do is not eroded during school holidays.
