The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will host the annual DAFF Female Entrepreneur Awards as part of its effort in acknowledging and rewarding women entrepreneurs during Women’s Month and beyond.
The awards are held in partnership with the North West Department of Rural, Agricultural and Environmental Development and Total South Africa.
The programme is aimed at rewarding the efforts and contribution of women, youth and people with disabilities in matters of food security, job creation, economic growth and poverty alleviation. It is a joint venture between DAFF, provinces and key stakeholders in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors commencing at a provincial level and culminating in the main event at national level.
This year the awards will be held under the theme “Recognising the role of women and their contribution to Africa’s Agriculture and Food Security” which is in line with the department’s message of promoting food security and sustainable development of female farmers in the sector.
