The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) will host a Women in Sport Empowerment Seminar at the St Albans Management Area in Gqeberha from 27 to 28 August 2026. A session that reaffirms the Department’s commitment to the empowerment, development and advancement of women in sport within the correctional environment and broader society.
The two-day seminar, which brings together more than 100 female delegates from all provinces, will create a platform for dialogue and engagement on issues affecting women. The session will also explore sport as a powerful instrument for empowerment, leadership, personal development, confidence-building and social transformation.
DCS has female officials who have risen to leadership positions across various sporting codes and proudly represent South Africa. National Commissioner Makgothi Samuel Thobakgale will deliver the keynote address, highlighting the Department's commitment to creating an enabling environment in which women can realise their full potential both within DCS and beyond.
