Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP) stakeholder sensitisation forum: a meeting of South Africa’s agricultural sector

Among the nations in Africa yet to adopt Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) is South Africa. In July 2003, the African Heads of State and government endorsed the CAADP as a continent’s framework that will pursue agriculture–led growth development.

As part of the implementation process, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in partnership with Nepad Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) held a CAADP workshop in October 2011. One of the resolutions that emanated from the seminar was a directive to establish a multi-partner CAADP Country Team to oversee the implementation of CAADP in South Africa.

DAFF will host a one day seminar as part of ongoing consultations with agricultural stakeholders in the implementation of CAADP and provide a platform for dialogue as well as look into its implementation roadmap.

CAADP is envisaged to add value to the country’s existing food security, poverty alleviation and development programmes.

Details of the seminar are as follows:

Date: Thursday, 28 February 2013
Time: 9h00 - 15h30
Venue: Birchwood Conference Centre, Boksburg
